Approximately 100 vehicles are on the road every day helping individuals access community and health services. Drivers travel throughout the region and clock more than three million miles a year. Public and medical transportation are essential to help thriving, active communities.

ETHRA Public Transit reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Customers should call 1.800.232.1565 to schedule a trip at least three business days in advance. Requests made after the 72 hours will be considered based on available space. Passengers should be ready for pick-up at least thirty minutes before scheduled pick-up time. Due to time and distance, customers may be asked to be ready up to one hour plus driving time before appointment time.

Customers should ask their driver for a return pick-up card before leaving the vehicle. This card has the phone number to call when the customer is ready for pick-up. ETHRA Public Transit has a window of pick-up time which is as follows: Vehicles will not be considered late until one hour plus driving time after the scheduled time for pick-up. Every effort will be made to notify the customer if the driver is running beyond this window of pick-up due to uncontrolled circumstances.

In order to ensure timeliness of service, drivers will wait five minutes at the pick-up location. After five minutes the customer will be considered a no-show. Cancellations should be made at least two hours before the scheduled pick-up or return pick-up time. If a trip is not cancelled, it will be considered a no-show and the customer will be responsible to pay for the trip even though they did not ride. Customers transported under contract (TennCare, Family First, Job Access, etc.) will be given three no-show trips. After three no-show trips are recorded, future transit needs will be canceled until further notice.


Hours of Operation

ETHRA Public Transit operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Customers should call three business days in advance. ETHRA Buses do not operate on Saturdays, Sundays, New Year’s Day, MLK Holiday, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Eve & Day or other training dates.

 Safety

ETHRA Public Transit is committed to providing a safe transit system for all passengers. Our drivers undergo training in applicable local, state, and federal programs to meet safety requirements and regulations. We provide ongoing training for our drivers throughout their course of employment. Our vehicles are well maintained through our own maintenance facility. Each vehicle is equipped with the required safety equipment. 


Emergency Procedure

If you are involved in an accident while in transit, please remain calm, and follow the direction of your driver. Be assured, every driver is trained in accident and emergency procedures. If evacuation of the vehicle is warranted, please help your driver by making the procedure as orderly as possible.


Bad Weather Policy


ETHRA Public Transit no longer follows the same policy as the county school systems. If the schools are closed in your county, ETHRA will still provide transportation. During inclement or bad weather, please call 1.877.821.6232.  We update this number as information is provided, with any counties that may or may not be running or delayed.
